  1. I notice that on your website, and on all your material, you use the image of a dragonfly.  Can you tell us what the significance of that is and how it relates to conscious aging?

 

  1. How do you define conscious aging?

that the later stage of life has within it the unique potential for growth. It is not about decay and disease as the media would have us believe  to make life as fulfilling as possible. For those who pursue Conscious Aging it is also a time to remain Aware, Awake, and Deliberate, and to take Active responsibility for their destiny.”

 

  1. What’s the first step to being conscious to age? GIVE UP ANTI-AGING – 50 is the new 40 – no – To be fully conscious is to accept what IS – not compare it or wish it were different

 

  1. What is OLD?  Where do we get our views about aging? My dad used to say – when he was in his 80’s – he didn’t want to go to a Senior Center because those people were OLD..

50 is the new 40 – NO 50 is 50 – embrace it

One is the mental/emotional component: namely, how old do I feel?

The other is the physical: how healthy and strong is the body?

 

  1. What are some of the main myths people have about aging? Brain power declines

n fact, verbal and math abilities and spatial and abstract reasoning all improve in middle age.   Memory

 

  1. How does one overcome fears about aging? Can you give us an example of ongoing techniques to ignore or get-over or never have scary thoughts about getting old?
